Wine and Crime: Claire Askew

Claire Askew's books include the creative writing guide Novelista (John Murray, 2020), the multi-award-winning novel All The Hidden Truths (Hodder, 2018), and the poetry collections This changes things (2016) and How To Burn A Woman (2021), both published by Bloodaxe.  Her latest novel is The Dead Don't Speak, the fifth in the Edinburgh-based DI Helen Birch series published by Hodder & Stoughton.  In this instalment, Edinburgh's streets are being stalked by a vigilante Police Scotland are calling 'the Vampire': a man with no name, no known associates, and no past.  The longer he remains at large the more chaos he causes, and yet there aren't many leads.  Helen Birch -- off work sick and slowly losing her own mind -- might be the only person who knows how to apprehend a person who doesn't seem to exist...
