How to Make A Short Film is a day-long workshop covering the entire process of creating a narrative short film, from conceiving an idea to
development, funding, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution. Ideal for aspiring filmmakers or anyone curious about
how films are made, this workshop will provide all the steps needed to make your own short film. It will be taught lecture style with exercises
intertwined throughout ending with a Q&A, led by award winning writer / director Cassiah Joski-Jethi.
About Cassiah
Cassiah Joski-Jethi is a mixed British Indian writer/director who began her career working for Gurinder Chadha OBE after a chance meeting on a train.
Cassiah was selected for the prestigious BRIT List and BFI Network@LFF in 2024, and more recently, was selected for BFI Midlands Directors Lab 2025. Cassiah has also been mentored by director Claire McCarthy, and director/showrunner Jim Field Smith as a Director Trainee on the AppleTV/60Forty series ‘Hijack’.
Cassiah’s award-winning short horror film ‘Catch A Butcher’ (2021) was supported by the BFI Network and has screened at a number of BAFTA-qualifying festivals across the UK. She also directed the BBC Studios Drama Productions short thriller ‘The Pink Pill’ (2022), and is now developing her debut feature projects, including one in development with the BFI and one slated for production in Autumn 2026.
Cassiah is also currently directing an original audio drama for Amazon Audible and is developing an original novel.
