Gardening-Horticulture
Julie Price is a botanical artist with a Diploma in Botanical Art. She has been teaching for over 14 years at home in the Highlands or on courses for the Scottish Society of Botanical Artists, of which she is a director, in Edinburgh, Aviemore and London. Julie will talk about the history of botanical art discussing the origins of the artform in recording newly discovered plant species on often perilous expeditions to countries
across the globe. From its early use as the photography of its time, this style of work has now become highly sought after, with people commissioning florilegiums to record the plants in their own gardens. You will discover more about the botanical artists currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity with a renewed influence on interior design combined with our continual interest in its connection to plants and gardening to which this form of art is inextricably linked.
