Nairn artists invite visitors into studio spaces during Nairn Book and Arts Festival

Artists based at Links in Nairn will host a new exhibition, open studios weekend and Art Car Boot Fair to coincide with the annual Nairn Book and Arts Festival this August and September.
Visitors to Links Studios – located in the historic Fishertown area of Nairn – will have the rare opportunity to explore the private working spaces of some of the town’s most established artists, purchase original artwork directly from them, and discover the group exhibition of their work in the building’s dedicated gallery space.
The exhibition, titled What is place?, will explore ideas of belonging and connection through the work of local artists. The gallery will be open daily (11am–3pm) excluding 30 August.
The series of artist-led events is a rare opportunity to experience contemporary visual art in Nairn, meet makers in their working environments, discover creative practices first-hand and browse original work for sale.
All participating artists are based at Links, with events taking place as part of the wider festival celebration of books, arts and culture in Nairn.

Exhibition: What is place?
29 August–6 September, 11am–3pm. Closed 30 August.
The exhibition invites audiences to consider how artists respond to landscape, memory, community and identity.
Opening night
28 August, 6pm–8pm.
The opening night offers an informal opportunity to meet participating artists, preview the exhibition and celebrate the launch of the programme during the festival.
Open studios
5–6 September, 10am–5pm.
During the open studios weekend, artists will welcome visitors into their working spaces, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how artwork is developed and created. The weekend provides a chance to ask questions, discover new practices and experience the creative community at Links first-hand.
Art Car Boot Fair
5 September, 10am–5pm.
The Art Car Boot Fair is an accessible way for visitors to buy directly from artists, with original artworks, prints, small works and creative pieces available to browse. The event is designed to create a relaxed market-style atmosphere to meet makers and take home something unique.
