The Art of Aikido - World Class Aikido demonstration

Seaman's Hall,
3 Sep – 3 Sep

A group headed by Bob Jones - 8th Dan,  and Garrett Baxter  - 5th Dan,  will be providing an insight into the world of Sport Aikido.
This interactive demonstration will involve members of both the youth and adult British National Teams who have just taken part in the World Aikido Championships in Osaka, Japan.  The British teams have been world champions on four occasions and are among the world’s best at this dynamic Samurai art.
Tomiki or Sport Aikido is a rapidly expanding expression of Aikido through competition, which employs both Embu and Randori. Embu is the formal demonstration of techniques while Randori involves contestants trying to overcome one another in a “judo” style combat.
Dr. Pete Coia, the British Aikido Association Development Officer for Scotland will also attend, making himself available for questions and providing access to anyone wishing to participate in Aikido locally.
Dr. Coia can be contacted on pacoia@btinternet.com or 0770 209 2436.
Suitable for children aged 10 and up..
