High St Creative Takeover, Saturday 27th August  
 
Storytelling from 10.30am at Nairn Library
Street activities and performances from 11.45am


Our Takeover this year is going fancy dress - dress up as a character from your favourite story – grown-ups too! 
There will be prizes handed out for the coolest costumes we spot!  Enjoy storytelling at Nairn Library,  performance by Nairn Youth Theatre, story telling stilt walkers and live music and song
Join our ‘Stories of Nairn’ flag parade down the High Street and round the Links

Margot Henderson – Storytelling for families
Nairn Library 10.30am and 12 noon - Free entry
 
Margot Henderson is a Scots Irish poet, storyteller and community artist. Her work weaves together poetry, song and story, celebrating culture, roots and heritage, affirming our belonging to the natural world. She has performed widely in the UK and elsewhere creating performance pieces for festivals, conferences and cultural events.  She has produced a number of poetry collections and cd’s of poems, songs and stories.
  
Fly Agaric brings its awesome brand of circus entertainment in the form of drop in circus skills and demonstrations. Come try your hand at spinning plates, hula hoops, juggling and more! Suitable for all ages.
Also attending this wonderful event will be two rather tall, silly and colourful, story telling stilt walkers. They love to hear your tales too! From 11.45am

Nairn Youth Theatre (Borealis Theatre Arts) presents 'A Discovery of Memory'   Outside Old Royal Bank of Scotland building. From 1.00pm  (check social media for details of performances nearer  the time)

William Mather Portrait Artist     Festival favourite William Mather joins us once more with his quick portrait sketches - don’t miss him!

Join our Stories of Nairn flag parade  at 3pm

Take a turn carrying one of our 80 flags (or bring your own) - follow the stilt walkers and parade down the High St, and round the Links - finishing back at the top of the High St.

Festival Club at the Bandstand    Later… head to the Bandstand bar for a bite to eat (booking recommended) and some fantastic music by Samba Sene &Diwan. From 9pm. £7.50 or free entry if eating at the restuarant (booking strongly advised) or if you are at the bar before 8pm.
