Join us for a day of free outdoor fun, creativity and live music, featuring Nairn Youth Theatre, Highland Brass, The Penguin’s Tuxedo, Nature 4 Health and musicians at James's on the Putting Green. Everyone’s favourite portrait artist William Mather will be back for more sketching fun. A small group of environmental activists dressed as Scottish endangered species will be joining the festival, performing fun and informative family-friendly sketches. Spot (and chat to) the ‘Beatrix Potter’ style ptarmigan, puffin, wild cat and more!
On The Wing parade - Come along, make a bird mask, join the fun! meet at Cumming St car park, Nairn Links. Look out for the banners! Parade will move off at 11.00am along Nairn beach (Flock together at 10.45am) Local parents – if your child has already got a bird costume they have made in school with artist Julia Tucknott ( she will be visiting schools from August 28 - 31), meet at Nairn Links car park (Cumming St) at 10.45am, where the ‘birds’, will collect their wings and take flight along Nairn beach to the East Beach and back again, hearing stories of birds along the way with Ranger Saranne Bish, and ending back at the car park, where there will be creative activities on the go with Nature 4 Health and artist Amy Neville.
The parade will feature some beautiful silk banners created by pupils at Nairn Academy and by the East Nairnshire community with Amy Neville. Look out for the flags marking the way! If you want to make a bird mask and join in, come along a little earlier at 10.30am.
