Eòghan Stewart from Inverness is one of the most exciting Gaelic poets to emerge in recent years. Masterfully straddling modernity and tradition, his radical indigenous voice represents native and learner alike. His island heritage, his upbringing across Scotland, his immersion in nature and his faith in humanity brings a sense of place, light and hope through his poetry. His debut collection “Beum-sgèithe” from Acair is one of the fastest selling Gaelic books of all time.
’S e fear de na bàird Ghàidhlig as beòthaile a nochd o chionn ghoirid a th’ ann an Eòghan Stiùbhart à Inbhir Nis. Gu sgileil a’ cumail cas ann an gach nòs, sean is ùr, tha a ghuth raidigeach, tùsanach a’ riochdachadh tùsanaich ’s luchd-ionnsachaidh ceart cho math. Tha a dhualchas eileanach, arach air feadh na h-Alba, a bhogadh an nàdar ’s a chreideamh ann am mac an duine a’ toirt faireachdainn de sholas, dhòchas ’s àite tro a chuid bhàrdachd. ’S e a’ chiad chruinneachadh aige “Beum-sgèithe” bho Acair a-measg nan leabhraichean Gàidhlig as luaithe gan reic riamh.
