For the last 25 years Philip Paris, who lives near Tain, has worked in journalism and public relations. His first novel, The Italian Chapel, was published last year, and was the result of more than three years of research into the history of the chapel on Orkney. Although written as an historical fiction, the book tells the true story of the creation of the building, which is today Orkney’s most visited tourist attraction. This year Philip publishes a non-fiction book about the chapel, Orkney’s Italian Chapel: The True Story of an Icon. Philip’s talk will include the surprising discoveries he made about the chapel’s history, plus readings from his books.
